Martin polled 23 votes to clinch the medal ahead of Strathfieldsaye co-coach and 2011 winner Wayne Schultz, who finished with 17 votes.

Martin polled top votes in five games and two votes in four matches.

Schultz led the count after 12 rounds with 14 votes, two ahead of Martin and Kangaroo Flat's Mitch Hough.

However, Martin charged home with 11 votes in the final five rounds to win his first Michelsen.

Michelsen top 10 - Martin 23, Schultz 17, Simon Rosa (Golden Square) 16, Mitchell Dole (Sandhurst) and Mark Lloyd (GS) 13, Mitch Hough (Kangaroo Flat) 12, Brodie Filo (Eaglehawk) 11, Ollie Messaoudi (Gisborne) 11, Casey Summerfield (11).

Meanwhile, Gisborne mid-courter Tiana Newman picked-up her second Betty Thompson Medal as the BFNL's A-grade netball best-and-fairest.

Newman polled 24 votes to claim the medal ahead of Golden Square defender Allira Holmes on 19.

Maryborough veteran Alicia Cassidy was third with 18 votes.

Other award winners were Troy Cravino from Kangaroo Flat, who took home the McDonald Medal as the reserves best-and-fairest with 20 votes, four ahead of South Bendigo's Ryan Connaughton.

Sandhurst's Sebastian Greene won the Symons Medal in the under-18s with 21 votes. Golden Square's Harry Whittle was runner-up on 20 votes.

South Bendigo's Sarah Nash was the A-reserve best-and-fairest with 28 votes, three ahead of Kangaroo Flat's Madalyne Wharton.

B-grade's best was tied between Kangaroo Flat's Rachel Winfield and Sandhurst's Briona Giddings on 24 votes.

Sandhurst's Emily Gallagher edged-out Golden Square's Bree Forrester by one vote to take home the B-reserve best player award with 23 votes.

Castlemaine young gun Chelsea Sartori won the Sing Medal as the 17-and-under best-and-fairest.

Sartori polled in every game except one to finish with a remarkable 46 votes.

Sartori was 21 votes clear of runner-up Sammi Cooke from Gisborne.

Sandhurst took home the David McCann Memorial Award as champion club and also won the goal-throwing with 4462 goals.

Gisborne's Madeline Stewart was the netball rising star and South Bendigo's Blake O'Halloran took out the football rising star award.
