The Bendigo Catholic College community were advised at 3pm today of Mr McGregor's decision to stand down after 10 years in the role.
Mr McGregor said it was a great honour to be named foundation head of the new Marist College.
“It is every principal’s dream to have the chance to start a school from scratch, and to be able to start a Marist school is something that is close to my heart,” said Mr McGregor.
“I have been involved with Marist education since my own student days, and have a great commitment to the principles of Marist education, and the particular Christian spirituality that underpins it.”
The new school’s first intake of year 7s will be located at Catholic College Bendigo in 2014.
They will be transferred to the new Maiden Gully site the following year and be joined by the next intake of year 7s.
