A police media spokeswoman confirmed Bendigo detectives were investigating reports of a car jacking yesterday morning.
She said investigators were told a 50-year-old woman was approached by a man in Elmore around 9.40am.
The man, believed to be aged in his 20s, asked for a lift to Bendigo and the Good Samaritan offered to drive him to a nearby truck stop.
As the car stopped at the intersection of Elmore – Raywood and Lockington roads, Inglewood, the man is believed to have pushed the driver out of the car and drove off.
The car, a Mitsubishi X-Trail, was later found abandoned in a paddock off Burns Road, Bagshot.
The victim was not injured in the incident. Anyone with any information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
