I am writing to say a big thank you to Brett Allender and the Bendigo Advertiser for the 150 years of rainfall pages in last Tuesday’s Bendigo Advertiser, February 12.

It’s so great to be able to compare the rainfall figures over the years, even the year and month I was born.
I take immense interest in rainfall for our area, so am enjoying the 150 years chart.
While 2010 was the year we had the highest reading for the year, being 1061 millilitres, the next highest was in 1870 with 974.6. The lowest reading was in 1982 with only 210 registering.
This year has not started off very well which makes one wonder why our water restrictions are not stricter at the moment.
Our population is growing and building new homes means demand for more water saving should be of the utmost priority.
