Thanks to a $10,000 donation from the Strathfieldsaye and Districts Community Enterprise Foundation and existing funds, the brigade was able to build a new shed next to the fire station.
Mr Carracher said the new shed meant the brigade was able to grow with the community.
“We have identified we need to be a bigger, stronger brigade with more equipment and more space,” he said.
“The brigade has identified that in the last two years the number of houses has increased by 22 per cent.
“We have over 1200 houses in Junortoun now, so the shed will certainly take a lot of strain away.”
Mr Carracher said the donation from the Community Enterprise Foundation was invaluable.
“We have established a partnership with the Community Enterprise Foundation and we look forward to that continuing in the future,” he said. Community Enterprise Foundation member Brad Bennett said donating money to the Junortoun brigade was an easy choice.
He said since the foundation began it had donated up to $700,000 to community organisations.
Mr Carracher said the brigade now had its sights set on buying a new heavy tanker.
“The brigade will need to raise $60,000 to achieve that so we are certainly looking for future partnerships and any relationships with the community to help us raise the money,” he said.
