CFA were called to the blaze at the Inglewood Street address, just after 11am.
The fire was controlled within 15 minutes and was contained to one room.
Owners of the property, who were home at the time, were uninjured, but were in a state of shock, CFA senior station officer Steve Smith said.
Neighbours said black smoke was billowing from the front of the home.
Fire investigators are still working to determine the cause of the blaze.
