The red dragon playground was overwhelmingly voted the winner in November last year and will be installed on March 28.
A "Name the Dragon" competition will open tomorrow with City of Greater Bendigo director of community and wellbeing Pauline Gordon calling on residents of all ages to get creative.
“The playground will be a community asset, so adults and children alike are invited to submit their creative suggestions for a name,” Ms Gordon said.
“The winning entrant will help Mayor Cr Lisa Ruffell cut the ribbon and officially declare the space open for ‘play’ on Thursday March 28.
“The dragon’s name will be used to promote the play space across Bendigo and central Victoria, so we are looking for an imaginative idea that will capture people’s attention and encourage them to visit the mall.”
Entries for the competition will close on Wednesday, February 27 with the winner announced of Wednesday, March 13.

Entry forms will also be made available at primary school in the Greater Bendigo area and on the City of Greater Bendigo website.
