According to the Chinese zodiac, people born during the year of the snake are handsome, wise, gentle and have a good sense of humour.
A community celebration will be held at Dai Gum San today, running from 6.30pm until 7.30pm.
The Lion, Dragon and Plum Blossom dancing teams will perform in traditional costumes, spreading good luck and prosperity to onlookers.
Golden Dragon Museum general manager Anita Jack said that although the event would attract a smaller number of people than last year, she expected a crowd of more than 200.
A Yum Cha luncheon will be held on February 17 at the Golden Dragon Museum tearooms, starting at midday.
A range of Chinese delicacies will be served including pleated dim sum, phoenix claw and dragon eye dumplings.
An eight-course banquet will be held on February 22 from 6.30pm at the Golden Dragon Museum tearooms.
Traditional Chinese entertainment will feature at the luncheon and banquet.
The banquet is $40 for adults and $25 for children. To make a booking, contact the Golden Dragon Museum on 5441 5044.
