BENDIGO will be represented at the Pride March in Melbourne tomorrow by a group of young people marching under the banners of Bendigo Equality Participation Inclusion and Celebration (B-EPIC) and Country Awareness Network (CAN).

Thousands of people are expected to pound the pavements of St Kilda in celebration of Victoria’s gay, lesbian, bisexual, intersex and transgender people.
CAN has organised a bus to take people to Melbourne, where they will carry banners and rainbow flags at the march. CAN executive officer Adam Wright said marching in the event was an affirming act for young people.
“Regional areas are pretty open and welcoming, but it’s a different thing to go down and see thousands of people recognise the banners of CAN,” he said.
“It does a lot for the self-worth of the young people.”
Mr Wright said it was always an electrifying atmosphere at the march.
“CAN have been going for as long as I can remember,” he said.
“It’s pretty amazing in Melbourne. People are there showing their support and celebrating pride.”
