The brother and sister singer-songwriters are performing individually at the first Blues & Roots Festival fund-raiser for the year at Bendigo’s Golden Vine Hotel, on Sunday from midday.
“Cass and Pat Ward exemplify a lot of what we’re about as an organisation,” Mr Thompson said.
“It’s a big part of our mission statement to provide opportunities for young performers, or performers of any age for that matter, to get out and hone their craft on stage in front of an appreciative crowd.
“I’m also excited to be able... to demonstrate the kind of talent that resides here and which deserves to be acknowledged and appreciated by the mainstream public.”
The Wards are part of a line-up that includes new and returning acts such as Josh Owen, Lost Heart Sirens, Bones Blackwood and Trouble in Mind.
Mr Thompson said the success of the last two Bendigo Blues & Roots Music Festivals had set the groundwork for an exciting event this year.
