Kangaroo Flat, Big Hill, Maiden Gully and Lockwood are expanding in leaps and bounds and our sporting and recreation needs are not keeping up to this growth. The caravan park is too small to be a viable tourist park and emergency housing should not be situated in a sporting, recreation and education precinct.
Maybe now is the appropriate time, in conjunction with the management plan recently put out by the City of Greater Bendigo, the committee of management and interested sporting groups, to close the caravan park and utilise the area with more sustainable and user friendly sporting and recreation facilities.
With a rapidly growing sporting population, the bowls club is in desperate need of a new bowling green and the football, netball, cricket, swimming and tennis clubs, both senior and junior, are in urgent need of more sporting space and a better use of Dower Park is now appropriate.
