Central Victorian fire crews called out

FIRE trucks from central Victoria have been called to help fight a fast-moving grassfire in Wallan.

The fire started in Wallan and has spread to Romsey, with smoke visible from the Northern Highway.

CFA were first called to the blaze at 2.20pm.

A strike team from Macedon Ranges brigade has been called to assist in the fire, a CFA spokesman said.

The grassfire is approximately 30 hectares in size and out of control. It is on both sides of Old Sydney Road and Rowes Lane, travelling towards Taylors Lane.

Residents in Taylors Lane and surrounds have been advised to enact their bushfire survival plan with an emergency warning issued around 3pm.
