AFTER reading the editorial on January 19, “Waste disposal a tricky issue for council”, John and I would like to make a suggestion with regard to the disposal of waste.

Would the council consider giving all ratepayers four coupons for the disposal of rubbish each year?
Do tenants who rent ever receive coupons? This would be a great help, as the ratepayer may not pass on the coupon.
If residents consider that tip fees are too high, perhaps having one “open day” when anyone could bring rubbish to the tip would be an indication of residents voting with their response. We often walk our dog to the Bendigo Regional Park (off Sparrowhawk Road) and we are appalled by the amount of rubbish that is dumped there from time to time.
Recently I sent an email to the council and complained that a number of piles of junk mail had been dumped there by the dam.
Thankfully it was collected before it scattered into the water.
Thank you for the opportunity to express our concern in regards to the above matter.
