We congratulate them on their effort. We would also like to congratulate the state government on its recent grant to the Bendigo Community Health Services to run a Refugee Action Program.
The BCHS has already provided significant support to refugees in our community and support given in those difficult early years of settlement into a new life is beneficial not only to the refugees but to the wider community.
Besides the BCHS, church groups and organisations such as Bendigo Friends and Mentors work in many areas to help further an understanding of local laws and customs to support the transition from refugee to citizen.
