The Maryborough basketball star connected on four three-pointers in Monday’s win over Yale to pass David Sivulich for the all-time lead in three-pointers made for the US college.
Dellavedova has made 239 from the arc, one more than Sivulich.
He also moved past Diamon Simpson into fourth on the school’s all-time scoring list. Dellavedova has scored 1622 points in his career. David Vann is third on the list with 1738, and Daniel Kickert holds the record with 1874.
Barring injury, Dellavedova is a strong chance to eclipse Kickert’s mark by seasons end.
The point guard had an off shooting night in Tuesday’s thrilling 70-69 win over Harvard.
Dellavedova made just one of his 12 field goal attempts, but still dished out nine assists in the Gales stirring come-from-behind win.
The Gaels, who improved to 11-3 this season, had trailed by 14 points at half-time and didn’t grab the lead until Australian Mitch Young made two free throws with just 1.1 seconds remaining on the clock.
Dellavedova, who is in his final year with the Gaels, has been named on watch lists for the James Naismith and John R. Wooden national player of the year awards.
His performances earned rave reviews from former NBA point guard Bobby Hurley.
Hurley, who now coaches the University of Rhode Island, was impressed with Dellavedova in the Gaels win over his side last week.
“(Dellavedova) is terrific on on-ball screens. He has great vision and can read defences on the floor very well,” Hurley said.
“He has the ability to extend plays and give his team-mates chances to score.
“His main priority is running the team. Guys are excited and want to play with (Dellavedova) because he is unselfish and great at finding big guys near the rim.”
