A blaze was lit in a creek at the back of a BP petrol station on Eaglehawk Road on New Year’s Eve.
Two CFA crews took 20 minutes to control the blaze and two hours to extinguish it.
That followed a similar fire in the same location the night before and another fire a week prior.
CFA senior station officer Craig Houlahan said there was nothing to suggest how the fire started.
“We’re asking the public to be vigilant and if they see any suspicious activity, report it to police,” he said. “There’s a police team working on fires that are deliberately lit in the area.
“The support of the public is required because there will be some weather conditions conducive to extreme fire activity in the coming week.”
The Bureau of Meteorology is forecasting five days at 37 degrees or above from Thursday onwards, including two 40 degree days.
Figures from the bureau show there was only 20mm of rain during December. Detective Sergeant Colin Grenfell said police were treating the latest fire as suspicious.
