Revellers are set to descend on Bendigo’s CBD to get a good view of the City of Greater Bendigo council’s 15-minute firework display at midnight.
Venues such as the Shamrock, GPO, the All Seasons hotel, Bendigo Club, Pugg Mahones and the Wine Bank all have spaces left for set dinners.
Castlemaine is also preparing to see in the new year in style, with a family-friendly evening at the Camp Reserve organised.
Fireworks for the children will be on display at 9:30pm, with a repeat show at midnight.
For those who want to dance the night away, Castlemaine’s Theatre Royale is holding a disco with an all-star dance band.
Chewton’s Red Hill hotel is also hosting bands, and offering pizza and drinks at their premises, while Hepburn Springs’ The Palais is holding a masquerade party.
Bendigo police’s Senior Sergeant Troy Hargadon said they would be out in force in the city to ensure people celebrate safely.
“As with other years, a large amount of planning has gone into ensuring the safety of the public and make sure it’s a family-friendly night,” he said. “We will have a large police contingency patrolling all areas of the CBD.”
