Eaglehawk students win prestigious Melbourne Uni scholarships

TWO Eaglehawk secondary college year 10 students have received prestigious Melbourne University Kwong Lee Dow scholarships.

The scholarships will provide Karlie Drummond and Michael Bowley with access to the university’s facilities and resources in the next two years.

Miss Drummond said she was surprised to receive the scholarship and believed it would be an advantage when completing her VCE studies.

She said she was keen to go to university after completing year 12 studies but was not sure what course she would pursue.

Mr Bowley had never heard of the scholarship before and said his parents were proud of him.

“The application process was really long,” he said.

He said he intended to study an arts course at university after he graduated in 2014.

Both students will begin year 11 studies at Bendigo Senior Secondary College next year.
