Police attended the scene of the accident at the intersection of Quinn Street and the Princes Highway.
Police believe the man was pulling out of a service lane when the accident occurred about 8.30pm.
He was taken to Dandenong Hospital. A 27-year-old ute driver escaped the collision unhurt.
The accident comes after three people died on Victoria's roads on Monday in separate incidents.
Ambulance Victoria said it had been a "horror start" to the Christmas holiday.
