While many sweltered and others finished up their Christmas shopping during the day of total fire ban, many young kids and some very big kids took to the Big Bendi Water Slide.
Owner David Watters said there were a few Christmas functions on at the park as families looked to cool down.
“We’ve got a fair few people out here today,” he said.
“It’s brilliant being out here, especially now with school holidays we’re opened until 8pm.
“It’s a good place to come for a summer’s evening.”
Lyndon Westerway said his five-year-old son Liam had finally got the courage to go down the big slide by himself for the first time.
“We’ve been here maybe five or six times but this is the first time he’s gone down by himself,” Mr Westerway said.
Liam was rewarded for his bravery and gave the slide the tick of approval.
“It was good,” he said. “I want to do it again.”
A late change in the evening cooled Bendigo, with moderate days of 29 degrees forecast for today and a sunny 26 degrees for Christmas Day.
