More than $500 in two jars was stolen from the cafe on Thursday, November 29, by thieves who are yet to be caught.
Owners Chris and Zoe Waddington said they could not believe the generosity of the public, who contributed $3238.08 in the week since the theft.
“We can’t believe how people found the generosity to put in this much,” Ms Waddington said.
Ms Waddington said everyone had been extra supportive of the charity drive after hearing about the theft.
“All our regulars had already put in before and they still gave more.
“People were even putting in money after the jar had been taken away.”
Ms Waddington said there were some big donations, including one anonymous patron who put in $1000.
“We were just blown away,” she said.
She said owners, employees and customers were chuffed with the amount raised in one week.
“Everyone’s generosity has changed what was a really crappy situation.
“We want to thank all our customers who put in.”
