With the sale of each cake, $2 is being donated to St John of God Bendigo’s oncology unit.
Store franchisee Maree Edwards said the fund-raiser was designed to help provide cheer to people battling cancer. “It’s to make the patients a bit more comfortable,” she said.
“Flowers in their rooms, new cups and saucers – anything that will give them a smile.
“For anyone that spends a long time having chemotherapy, it’s about those nice little extras.”
Mrs Edwards said the hospital did not have resources to buy those additional things.
“It is great getting so many people on board.
“Anyone having chemotherapy needs all the help they can get.
“It’s hard on the nurses and everyone involved.”
With a lot of cakes already sold, Mrs Edwards said she hoped they would be able to buy some great things for the hospital this year.
