The Country Fire Authority said this morning that the grassfire at Whiteheads Creek, west of Seymour, was contained but still burning.
The blaze has destroyed more than 1800 hectares so far and 36 crews remain on the scene.
CFA incident controller John Leben said no homes were currently at risk, but crews were expecting the bushfire to burn for two or three more days.
‘‘We still have major fire activity within the control lines. Yesterday our job was to stop the run of the fire, today it is to contain it,’’ Mr Leben said.
‘‘We’re particularly worried about winds from the north-east on Wednesday.’
Kobyboyn Road and Highlands Road remain closed as the fire heads slowly south and east. Smoke is expected to be visible in the Seymour area during the day
Residents have been advised to monitor the CFA website and local radio for updates.
