THE grass fire in Woodvale is now under control.
A CFA spokeperson said fire trucks attended the incident and the aeriel waterbomber was also dispatched.
"It happened just ahead of the wind change so it was a case of hitting it hard, hitting it early," he said.
Fire crews also battled a grass fire in Heathcote today as temperatures pushed towards 40 degrees across the state.
The fire got up to about one hectare in size and caused spot-fire up to one kilometre around it.
"The fire was on the south west edge of town," the CFA spokesperson said.
"It threatened one or two houses ... it was great work from all the local crews to pull it up."
