However, most service stations are being intermittently restocked so Bendigo motorists are driving around the city in search of fuel and are prepared to wait in long queues for their fill.
The shortage of diesel was caused by issues with a production unit at the Shell refinery in Geelong.
Tim Crawford from Crawford Earthmoving the diesel shortage could bring some businesses to a standstill.
"I've got enough for a few days but I'm not sure how long it will last," he said this morning.
"I've probably got enough for another two or three days, that's about it.
"We'll have to stop work if it doesn't improve so we're watching what's happening very closely
"Hopefully situation improves over weekend.
"I'm praying for it."
Mr Crawford spent yesterday driving around Bendigo in search of a service station with diesel.
"We went all over Bendigo looking for it," he said.
"I ended up finding some at BP in Epsom and lined up for a good half an hour.
"We'll have to do it all over again next week if the situation doesn't improve by the end of the weekend."
A Bendigo service station attendant said word was there would be minimal deliveries made by Tuesday.
"It's a pretty dire situation," he said.
"There was one servo that had 1500 litres yesterday ran out in three hours."
