The Redbacks were staring at the prospect of being bowled out for less than 150 at Harry Trott Oval when they crashed to 9-139 in the 57th over.
But Crawford and Podosky defied the Roos for almost 20 more overs with their 106-run stand off 118 balls.
Podosky looked anything but a No.11 batsman in making an unbeaten 43 off 58 balls (three fours, two sixes).
Podosky’s 43 was a career-high and he has now made 64 runs in his past two innings’ without being dismissed.
And Crawford, batting at No.8, used all his experience to craft 77 off 118 balls (four fours) in the Redbacks’ total of 245.
The last hour was bitterly disappointing for the Roos after they made the most of their decision to bowl first when they had Curtis Tuohey (0), Mark Di Fede (1) and the in-form Heath Behrens (3) all back in the pavilion before 10 runs had been scored.
As well as Crawford and Podosky, captain Leigh McDermott (61 off 90, 10 fours) batted well in testing conditions, while Harry Donegan (39 off 106, four fours) also worked hard to steady the innings after the Redbacks’ poor start.
Captain Adam Burns was outstanding with the ball for the Roos, taking 6-44 off 27 overs.
At one stage Burns had 6-28 off 25 overs, before his last two overs cost 16 runs.
Brent Hamblin (4-83) picked up the other four wickets for the Roos, who at stumps were 2-21, with Podosky capping a fine day by taking both wickets.
