EDDIE Betts described last night’s cameo Twenty20 appearance for Golden Square as more nerve-racking than any of the 166 AFL games he has played for Carlton.

Swapping his trademark baggy blue footy shorts for cricket gear, Betts was the star attraction for Golden Square against Eaglehawk in their Bendigo District Cricket Association Twenty20 match at Wade Street.
With Square bowling first, Betts sent down three overs of medium-pace for figures of 0-24.
Later on with the bat, he came in at number five, scoring five runs before he was bowled by Andrew Smith.
“I got dropped twice, so I had a bit of luck, which was good,” Betts said after the game.
“It was the second time I’ve played a Twenty20 game. These blokes were pretty quick with the ball, so I was very nervous.
“I was more nervous coming out here tonight than I have been playing a game of footy.
“I told the bowlers to slow down a bit for me... it was good fun and I enjoyed the night.
“Last time I played I made a duck, so I was happy to get some runs tonight.”
Golden Square won the game by five wickets, answering the Hawks’ 8-154 with 5-155.
