NEWBRIDGE will have to wait until the Queen’s Birthday weekend in June next season before getting a crack at arch-rivals Bridgewater in the rematch of last September’s Loddon Valley Football League grand finalists.

The LVFL has released its fixture for 2013, with the two sides who met in this year’s grand final – the Maroons and Mean Machine – not clashing until round nine on Saturday, June 8.
Bridgewater will be gunning for four-straight flags in the LVFL next season, with this year’s 65-point grand final win over Newbridge following premiership victories over Pyramid Hill and Calivil United the previous two years.
The Mean Machine will begin their premiership defence at home against Calivil United on April 6.
Other games in the first round of the season will be YCW v Newbridge; Bears Lagoon-Serpentine v Mitiamo; and Marong v Pyramid Hill. Inglewood has the bye.
Next year will be the third straight season Marong and Pyramid Hill have clashed in a season-opener.
The finals series will begin on August 17 with the qualifying final, with the season to culminate when the grand final is played on September 7.
The LVFL will play an inter-league game against the Horsham District league on Saturday, May 25, at a venue yet to be confirmed.
The two clubs who have a bye on either side of the inter-league match are Mitiamo and YCW, meaning they will both go 21 days between games.
Among the coaching changes in have been Tim Wicks – who previously won three Harding medals at Mitiamo – being appointed a co-coach of Inglewood.
Wicks will line up against his former side for the first time in round four when the Superoos host Inglewood on April 27.
