The silver medallist at the London Games spoke to students about the Olympics and what it was like to compete in a wheelchair. 

Chaplin said she enjoyed talking to students and listening to some of the questions they had. 

“A lot of them saw the Paralympics on television,” she said. 

“I like talking with kids because they see it as a sport.

“I always think they are going to ask about the wheelchair but they don’t, they usually ask about how fast I can go and how high I can shoot.”

Chaplin, who has three Olympic medals under her belt – two silver medals and a bronze – has been playing for the Australian team for 10 years. 

Chaplin said she also spoke to students about her journey and living with a disability.

“I think it is good for them to see someone who has a disability achieving things and living a normal life. It is a good opportunity for them to ask questions.”
