Bendigo has about 7200 registered businesses, of which 6000 are deemed small businesses.
The Coalition is determined to see the numbers of small businesses grow. This way there will be more local jobs for the Bendigo community.
To achieve this goal the Coalition has a clear vision, including a commitment to:
n Cut red tape by $1 billion each year and implement a comprehensive deregulation agenda;
n Establish a genuine root and branch review of competition laws, to ensure that small business can compete equally with big business; and
n Ease the paperwork burden by moving the administration of the national paid parental leave scheme from small businesses to the government’s Family Assistance Office. This commitment will help Bendigo’s small business sector thrive – your local greengrocer, favourite locally-owned clothes shop and trusted tradesman would all benefit from this initiative.
