I refer to the new City of Greater Bendigo council’s decision on Wednesday night to demolish a historic house in Little Breen Street, right at the entrance to the Quarry Hill heritage area.

This house will not be replaced by something that suits the heritage houses in the area in which it sits, nor will it be replaced with something that might blend in nicely.
It is being replaced with two very post-modern tall units that will “completely destroy the heritage value of area”, to quote Cr Peter Cox.
This council has gone against the heritage advisers’ board and against the will of the people in Little Breen Street.
This council has shown us its true colours and I’m sorry to say it’s an anti-heritage, pro-development colour.
