IT’S straight As for the students at Huntly Primary School, which has been named Energy Smart Primary School of the Year. The school was also a finalist in the ResourceSmart School of the Year and Biodiversity School of the Year categories. For the past couple of years the school has worked hard to incorporate sustainability into the curriculum. Some of the projects include an indigenous plant garden, 10kW solar panels and a sustainability centre, which includes a greenhouse, vegie garden, fruit trees and a chook shed.A group of grade 5 and 6 students and staff travelled to Melbourne on Wednesday where they met Environment and Climate Change Minister Gavin Jennings. The students impressed the minister with videos they had made about sustainability.
