Company Description

Nearmap is unique. A global technology company with incredible people; a market-leader with energy and spirit. Nearmap was named as one of the world’s 10 Most Innovative Companies of 2020 by Fast Company magazine – and we’re growing.

If you join us on this exciting journey, you’ll love our inclusive values and share our ambition to become the source of truth that helps shape decisions for the liveable world.

What we do
We provide easy, instant access to high-resolution aerial imagery, city-scale 3D content, AI datasets and integrated geospatial tools, with wide-scale coverage across the USA, Canada, Australia and New Zealand. At the core of it, we’re a location content company, a visual analytics company, and a software as a service company. Innovation is weaved into our DNA.

Job Description

The Technical Product Manager will work closely with our technology and engineering teams to help define our platform roadmap and ensure high quality, on-time delivery.

As a member of our product team, you will develop a strong understanding of our customers’ needs, as well as our technical capability, to drive creative solutions that stay ahead of the industry curve.

You will help identify and initiate investigations of new technologies, prototype and test solutions for product features, and validate designs that deliver an exceptional user experience. You’ll be part of a world-class team, surrounded by smart people who are passionate about our technology and our product.

  • Work with Solution Product Managers and Product Marketing to understand customer problems and find innovative solutions for the broader market that generates revenue.
  • Be the custodian of your platform or project area on behalf of your customers and Nearmap – ensure that solutions are consistent, practical, high-quality, and forward-thinking.
  • Manage and prioritise the product backlog in your area of responsibility, balancing the needs and requests of multiple parties: customers, Solution Product Managers, Sales, Engineering, and senior leadership.
  • Track against the product delivery milestones and update relevant stakeholders on the progress of product initiatives.
  • Collaborate closely with other Product groups to ensure proper balance between market-driven requirements and technical implementation details.
  • On a continuous basis, work with engineers and software developers to interpret and clarify requirements. The objective is to allow the technical teams to operate at full velocity, avoiding situations where lack of requirements clarity impedes progress.
  • Identify and manage dependencies and risks.

We’re looking for an experienced Technical Product Manager/Developer with solid technical expertise supporting new technology and/or the roll-out new features for existing products.

  • Computer Science or Engineering degree.
  • Proven track record of getting things done, managing multiple tasks including communication with internal and external teams whilst consistently delivering on schedule.
  • Experience in Geospatial, Spatial Science & imagery is highly advantageous.
  • Exposure to modern web APIs and integrations.
  • Modern web software development.
  • HTML/Javascript.
  • Web APIs.
