Senior Lawyer

Your new company
Hays Legal are partnered with a State Government Authority and body corporate seeking a commercial lawyer to join the team on a 12 month temporary basis.

Your new role
You will assist the Department with high quality advice on a wide range of commercial legal issues relating to the authority. You will also assist in development of strategic policy or legislation in relation to the development, use or management of certain recreational facilities in Victoria. You will also:

• Draft and review legal documentation, conduct negotiations surrounding commercial, property and construction agreements, whilst dealing with sensitive matters.
• Identify potential risk to the Authority and Department and implement risk mitigation strategies
• Undertake high level research and analysis of complex legal and policy issues.
• Perform other duties as required, including undertaking work from other branches.

What you'll need to succeed
To be successful in this position you must:

• Tertiary qualification in Law
• Be admitted or eligible to be admitted in Victoria and hold or eligible to hold a current practising certificate
• Have a minimum of 3 years' PAE
• Have proven experience in general commercial practice
• Show well developed stakeholder management and proven negotiation skills
• Government experience would be highly desirable.
