 About the role

Atlas Iron actively seeks applications for a Principal HeritageAdvisor to lead our heritage programs and activities to ensurecompliance with our native tile agreements and legislativerequirements and to maintain and grow our positive relationshipswith traditional owners and associated stakeholders. 

More specifically, the Principal Heritage Advisor’sresponsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Lead the timely delivery of heritage advice and approvals as required for the delivery of Atlas Iron’s Exploration activities, Operations and development Projects.
• Provide strategic direction and support on heritage matters across Atlas, including appropriate engagement with internal and external stakeholders, including regulators and Traditional Owners.
• Coordinate and lead heritage matters ensuring the delivery of heritage approval strategies and surveys, and compiling and progressing heritage approvals under the Aboriginal Cultural Heritage Act.
• Lead the development of Cultural Heritage Management Plans and associated monitoring programs.
• Assist with the communication of cultural awareness, assessment and management processes across the broader business.
• Build and maintain effective relationships with external stakeholders, including regulators and Traditional Owners.

About you

As an experienced archaeologist or anthropologist, you will havethe ability to act as a technical lead in the field, demonstratestrong written and verbal communication, influencing andnegotiation skills and an ability to work without supervision andmake independent decisions. You will have extensive experience inengaging and developing positive working relationships to drivesuccessful outcomes.

The following qualifications and experience are required for therole:

• Tertiary level education in archaeology, anthropology or related discipline.
• 10+ years working in a heritage role (ideally within the mining industry).
• Demonstrated understanding and application of the state and federal legislation in relation to Heritage and Native Title
• Demonstrated experience working with Aboriginal communities and traditional Owners and a comprehensive understanding of Aboriginal culture.
• Advanced Microsoft Office suite skills, particularly Outlook, Word and Excel.
