DESCRIPTION

Job summary
The Product Manager Technical owns the Safety of Deployment Systems for the largest cloud network in the world, driving continuous improvement in the safety of AWS network configuration deployments across millions of devices.

This is a high profile position with visibility at VP level. In this role you will influence across all AWS network engineering teams and help drive innovative responses to address deployment safety risks.

Key job responsibilities
* build relationships with Network deployment tool customers - network deployment owners, network fabric owners, network operations teams.
* understand pain points and network customer needs for safety features of our deployment systems.
* define product features to address network customer needs, build and prioritise a backlog with customer agreement.
* build product awareness, resolve ambiguity about capability of deployment systems and respective roles.
* maintain the product roadmap and ensure consistency with 3 year vision and roadmap.
* prepare product and program updates for the team and Network Leadership.
* contribute to annual planning processes to secure investment for future product features.

A day in the life
* Present a document to our stakeholders to drive a key decision on a project.
* Collect customer feedback and translate into meaningful insights and contribute to the software teams.
* Attend a team-level operations review meeting to understand system health.
* Review a design document produced by engineers on the team and provide feedback to ensure alignment with overall product strategy and stakeholder needs.
* Meet with a customer to understand the problems they need our team to solve.
* Manage escalations and be the go-to person to remove blockers and ambiguity for the team.

About the team
Automated Continuous Deployment of Change (ACDC) is based in Sydney, Australia and owns software tools for deployment of change to the global AWS network. We also own the Network Deployment Safety Program to drive continuous improvement of safety in AWS network deployments. We are a growing team with a significant agenda for 2022 and 2023, increasingly focused on the safety of our services. We are seeking a talented and passionate Product Manager to help drive a key part of this agenda forward.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

* Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or a related field, or 10+ years relevant work experience in product management and network technology.
* Experience delivering or working with network products including deployment systems.
* Experience in leading product development start to finish, including shipping customer-facing products.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

* MBA or Master's degree in Technology (Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering).
* Ability to deal with significant ambiguity and conflicting priorities.
* Ability to build consensus (e.g., roadmap, product strategy, technical strategy, solution design and/or delivery approach).
* Ability to execute at tactical and strategic (defining a mission, vision, tenets, and long-term priorities). Effective feature delivery and success of meeting customer requirements and business objectives. Ability to make decisions that consider the whole picture including balancing short-term and long-term trade-offs.
*Clear, concise, accurate communication (both verbal and written) with audiences of varying technical abilities and business contexts.
* Manage features of strategic importance impacting all of AWS networking
* Ability to evaluate engineering customer needs, emerging technologies, product/feature technical design and solution approach of high complexity.
* Catalyst to faster business delivery. Establish/simplify/improve standards and metrics for feature experience and business reporting/evaluation. Creation of mechanisms and predictable procedures.
