Join one of the leading Environmental consultancies within NSW who are making a huge impact within the field of Environmental Management and Approvals, along with offering a range of other environmental and heritage services. The company are made up of a multi-disciplinary team of ecologists, archaeologists, environmental engineers, heritage architects and other dedicated environmental professionals.

Due to a growing portfolio of work, they are now seeking an experienced Principal Consultant - Environmental Approvals, to lead the growth and development of the approvals business.

With over 80 staff, this consultancy is currently in a growth phase – an exciting time to join!

Your new role

This consultancy is seeking a passionate senior approvals professional to manage projects across NSW and the Illawarra region. Reporting directly to the discipline manager, you will work closely with the Director, the approvals team members and other disciple leaders and team members. This role would suit someone that can work independently, collaborating with all stakeholders, internally and externally.

Responsibilities of the role will include:

  • State Significant Development / State Significant Infrastructure Approvals
  • Part 4 (Development Assessment) and Part 5 (Environmental assessment)
  • Medium to larger Reviews of Environmental Factors / Modifications
  • Small to Medium Environmental Impact Statements / Assessments

All of the above will be specific to the Resources/Mining Sector.

What you'll need to succeed

  • A tertiary qualification in environmental science/management/planning/engineering, resource management, or other related discipline.
  • 8+ years’ demonstrated experience working on Environmental Approvals within the Resources and Mining sector (preferable private sector however both public/private sector considered)
  • Excellent writing skills and the demonstrated capacity to lead and produce high quality content written for a range of approvals documents.
  • Confidence to manage other disciplines proving to be a good project manager.
  • Extensive experience responding to tender briefs, writing proposals and costing tenders against the relevant planning legislation.
  • EIANZ certified practitioner or on pathway to accreditation (or the willingness/drive to attain the accreditation) would be desirable.

It is essential for this role that you have NSW Planning System experience (as it relates to Environmental Approvals).
