Full job description

Want to be your own boss while having an established client base AND being supported by a proven framework?

  • Do you love what you do, but are you tired of working for others?
  • Do you want to get paid above industry rates, have a better work-life balance and be part of a rock star team?
  • Are you ready to be your own boss, but don’t want the risks that come with starting a new business?

Then the Veteran Health Association (VHA) is for you.

With us, you’ll be your own boss and work autonomously under your own ABN. You can work part time or full time. We’ll do all the marketing and provide the clients, the space and an evidence-based framework.

So it’s the best of both worlds; support and security while working autonomously!

Here’s how it works.

  • We’ll provide you with a proven framework that helps hundreds of veterans each year.
  • We’ll train you in the framework and provide ongoing support.
  • You’ll practise out of health clubs and work as part of a multidisciplinary team alongside an exercise physiologist and a psychologist.
  • You and your team will work with referring GPs to develop and deliver tailored treatment plans.

At VHA, no two days are the same, and that’s exactly how our teams like it.

They don’t take themselves too seriously (fun socks have become a part of our uniform!). They do, however, work hard and offer first class customer service.

Our teams love what they do and feel a strong sense of purpose in supporting veterans to transform their lives. They’re also reassured knowing that we’re a growing company that provides opportunities to progress.

As innovators, we welcome new ideas and people with diverse backgrounds and interests. While working within our framework, there’s flexibility to make the program your own. So whether you’re into surfing, yoga, or boxing, you can work with us to integrate your passions and help shape future program initiatives.

If you think you’ve got what it takes to join one of our rock star teams, then please read on.

We’re an organisation that’s dedicated to improving the physical and mental health of veterans.

We provide health care services through our Veterans’ Better Life Program; a program we created back in 2015 because we saw a gap in traditional veteran health care. Veterans were typically treated in silos that didn’t address known barriers to getting help.

We saw an opportunity to do things differently, to do things better. We created an integrated multidisciplinary program that’s tailored and treats each person as a whole.

Our successful program has become a leading front-line service for veterans. It’s now available at multiple locations on the Gold Coast, Brisbane, and Tweed Shire. We’re also expanding to new locations.

MORE ABOUT THE ROLE (the technical stuff)

To qualify for the role, you need to have:

  • tertiary qualification in physiotherapy
  • AHPRA registration
  • strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
  • business essentials, such as an ABN and insurances (if you don’t have these yet that’s ok, you’ll just need them before you start).

Ideally, you’ll also have:

  • experience in:
    • injury management
    • developing, implementing, and evaluating strength and conditioning programs
  • an interest or background in health and fitness

We say ideally because it would be great if you had some experience, but it’s not essential. We’ll provide you with training and support. Graduates and experienced physiotherapists alike are encouraged you to apply!

Key things you’ll need to do in the role:

  • Work well within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Effectively communicate with our veteran clients.
  • Identify client-orientated goals and formulate treatment plans.
  • Assess, diagnose, and treat musculoskeletal presentations.
  • Provide advice and education around symptom management and health promoting behaviours.
  • Conduct in-vivo screening and risk assessments.
  • Maintain industry compliant records and reports.
