Permian Overview ConocoPhillips and its heritage companies have operated in the Permian Basin for almost 100 years. Across New Mexico and Texas, the company holds conventional positions in the Northwest Shelf and Central Basin Platform, and an unconventional position in the Delaware Basin. At year-end 2020, the company held about 750 thousand net acres across the basin, with net production of 85 thousand barrels of oil equivalent per day. ConocoPhillips is committed to being an innovative and environmentally responsible operator, and the new technologies and practices that it is using in this area exemplify that. In January 2021, ConocoPhillips completed the acquisition of Concho Resources Inc., greatly expanding the company's position in the Permian Basin. The addition of 550,000 net acres complements the company's position in the Delaware and Midland Basins and created a sizeable Permian presence. Description The Permian Operated by Others (OBO) Team is seeking a Geologist with a background in working development programs, supporting ongoing drilling operations and characterization of new-entry areas. The successful candidate will provide comprehensive oversight of the Permian OBO program, geologic support for ballot evaluation and recommendations, drive process and tool optimization, and maintain strong communications with Land, Business Development and Operated Asset Teams. You must be able to multitask and work multiple projects simultaneously. Your responsibilities may include: Perform advanced technical analysis of OBO ballots and well AFEs to optimize and evaluate feasibility of future projects, including considerations for capital, expense, and incremental economics Develop detailed subsurface evaluations by collecting, integrating, and evaluating subsurface maps, cross-sections, petrophysics, production data, and other pertinent data to a quantify risks and opportunities Collaborate across multiple Corporate and BU functions including Land, Commercial, Business Development, Regulatory, HSE, and Asset Development teams Work closely with Reservoir Engineers and asset teams to share and leverage knowledge and strategic opportunities to improve understanding of well and reservoir performance, as well as creating synergies with operated acreage Integrate and analyze internal, third party, and competitor data to reduce uncertainties and influence development plans and evaluations Support development and implementation of OBO data analytics tools Basic/Required: Must be legally authorized to work in the United States as a U.S. citizen or national, or an alien admitted as a permanent resident, refugee or asylee Must have received or be willing to receive the COVID-19 vaccination, by date of hire to be considered. Proof of vaccination, or ConocoPhillips approved accommodation, required Bachelor's degree or higher in Geoscience or foreign equivalent 3+ years of experience in exploration and/or development positions in the upstream oil and gas industry Preferred: Master's degree or higher in Geoscience or foreign equivalent Familiarity with Permian competitors and basin trends Proficient in the use of data analytics processes and tools (Spotfire). Proficiency in Petrel, GeoGraphix, ArcPro or similar software Proficiency in each of the following: Stratigraphy Structural interpretation Regional evaluation and play fairway mapping Well tops and correlation Data integration Landing target analysis Takes ownership of actions and follows through on commitments by holding others accountable and standing up for what's right Builds effective solutions based on available information and makes timely decisions that are safe and ethical Demonstrates strong interpersonal skills supporting ability to work with multiple individuals with concurrent project requirements/deadlines Strong oral and written communication skills Ability to work effectively within multi-functional teams both internally and with OBO partners Ability to establish networks and relationships with multiple functions outside of immediate area of expertise To be considered for this position you must complete the entire application process, which includes answering all prescreening questions and providing your eSignature on or before the requisition closing date ofNovember 30, 2021.
