Legal Counsel

Your new company
This position will see you working within a worldwide growing professional services firm, based in Melbourne's CBD. You will be working with a well experienced General Counsel, Head of Legal assisting with providing in-house advice and legal support across the firm.

Your new role
Reporting to the General Counsel, Head of Legal, you will provide legal advice on corporate and commercial matters and assist in disputes and litigation with support from the broader Corporate Services team. You will also:

• Full Carriage and oversight on legal matters and managing disputes and litigation (debt recovery, professional indemnity or general commercial matters) with external lawyers
• Negotiate, review and advise on contracts, agreements, transactions and joint venture arrangements.
• Provide advice on corporation’s law and regulatory compliance matters and represent the firm in dealings with the regulators
• Providing general legal advice on day-to-day legal matters, and develop strategies for mitigation of legal risk
• Contribute to the firm’s policies and procedures while supporting legal frameworks through review
• Provide corporate governance and ad hoc company secretarial support
• Take on special projects as determined by the General Counsel or the Director, Corporate Services.

What you'll need to succeed
To be considered you will have:

• Tertiary qualification in Law and Admission to Practice with current practising certificate
• A minimum of 3 year’s PAE
• Commercial, corporate experience gained in a medium to large law firm and/or in-house legal counsel roles (Litigation experience also desirable).
• Strong Commercial outlook and understanding
• Outstanding verbal and written communication skills
