Your new company
Within this fast-passed Federal Government department there is a current need for a proficient and highly experienced EL1 professional with strong stakeholder management, writing skills and ability to work in fast paced environment to deliver programs that have a positive impact within the community.

Your new role
This role would suit a candidate who is driven by the knowledge that they can, through their strategic policy thinking and experience in program implementation, create positive outcomes for members of their community. In this position, you will utilise your strategic thinking to assist with policy and program proposals, financials, recruitment, procurement, and administrative duties. In this role you will be responsible for:

  • Managing the development and planning of asset upgrade / replacement program
  • Managing procurement and overseeing management of service provider contracts
  • Negotiating and managing the construction contracts
  • Participating in stakeholder engagement and communications
  • Preparation of briefing to Executive, Minister and other key stakeholders
  • Overseeing preparation of communication material
  • Managing and reporting on contractor performance
  • Supervising staff (project officers)
  • Budget management

his role will require the preparation of briefs, talking points, contribution to program/policy development and data analysis for the collation of evidence. Having experience in similar policy/program management roles would be highly desirable. The successful candidate will have analytical thinking and problem-solving skills, strong communication skills and stakeholder engagement to support the department deliver on these high priority social issues.

You must be an Australian citizen The advertised position has a COVID-19 vaccination requirement mandated by the relevant State/ Territory government. As such Hays will need to request proof of vaccination status as part of the recruitment process for this position

What you'll need to succeed
To succeed in this role, you will be a high-performing individual with excellent communication skills. As well as this, you will portray;

  • Experience in the management of capital infrastructure works and contractors
  • Ability to plan and implement capital works associated with a range of infrastructure assets, procurement and contract management for the delivery of works projects experience
  • Knowledge of relevant industry standards in relation to construction and maintenance of roads, buildings and services, particularly in remote areas
  • Experience in stakeholder consultation including working effectively and sensitively with Indigenous Australians.
