Disability Support Worker

This organization is one of regional Queensland’s largest and leading providers of mental health services, supporting individuals and communities in northern, central and western Queensland. Due to an increase in clients an opportunity now exists for a passionate disability support worker in Mackay.

Your new role
This is an interactive and rewarding opportunity for you to assist clients with their day-to-day living while encouraging them to maintain their independence. Your day-to-day tasks will include:

• Assisting and supporting clients with daily tasks such as shopping, cooking, exercising and household tasks;
• Meeting client needs in the least restrictive way possible;
• Mentoring clients and assisting them to develop independent living skills;
• Assisting in dispensing client medication and adherence to client support plans;
• Manual handling;
• Completing clear and factual handover notes and incident reports;
• Managing complex and challenging client behaviours (including aggressive behaviours);
• Encourage clients to engage with their local communities through access to Community Participation Programs and recreational activities;

What you'll need to succeed
This organization is looking for applicants with experience in the disability support sector who are dedicated, reliable and have great communication skills. Mandatory requirements

• (P) Blue Card and Yellow Card
• NDIS Worker Screening
• Certificate III in Disability Support or Community Services (or enrolled in same)
• At least one (1) year of experience as a disability support worker
• To have current vaccination records including the annual influenza and COVID 19 vaccine as required by the QLD government
• Current CPR and First aid Training
• Current drivers license and own vehicle
• Flexible working hours
