Your new company
Within this fast-passed Federal Government department there is a current need for a proficient APS6 Program Officer with strong writing skills and ability to work in fast paced environment to deliver programs that have a positive impact within the community.

Your new role
This role would suit a candidate who is driven by the knowledge that they can, through their strategic policy thinking and experience in program implementation, create positive outcomes for members of their community. In this position, you will utilise your strategic thinking to assist with policy and program proposals, financials, recruitment, procurement, and administrative duties. You will be responsible for program implementation tasks and duties in relation to critical, high-profile issues, whilst engaging with various internal and external stakeholders.

This role will require the preparation of briefs, talking points, contribution to program/policy development and data analysis for the collation of evidence. Having experience in similar policy/program management roles would be highly desirable. The successful candidate will have analytical thinking and problem-solving skills, strong communication skills and stakeholder engagement to support the department deliver on these high priority social issues.

You must be an Australian citizen The advertised position has a COVID-19 vaccination requirement mandated by the relevant State/ Territory government. As such Hays will need to request proof of vaccination status as part of the recruitment process for this position
What you'll need to succeed
To succeed in this role, you will be a high-performing individual with excellent communication skills. As well as this, you will portray;

  • Government writing abilities, including the ability to develop high level briefs and general correspondence.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to work flexibly and collaboratively.
  • Ability to effectively communicate and negotiate with a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Excellent coordination and time-management skills.
  • Demonstrated experience in policy development and implementation, ideally in social contexts.
  • Ability to break down and assess complex work processes to problem solve.
  • Ability to effectively negotiate with a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Manage effective working relationships with internal staff, senior executives and external stakeholders.
  • Capability to produce quality outcomes in a fast-paced work environment.
