The Art Gallery of Ballarat was established in 1884 and is the oldest and largest gallery in regional Australia.
It houses major collections covering the history of Australian art from the early colonial period to the present day. The collection is presented in a series of rooms ranging in date from 1887 to current, enabling the works to be displayed in rooms appropriate to their era.
Open from 10 to 5pm every day but Christmas and Good Friday, the Art Gallery of Ballarat is the perfect place to escape Ballarat’s cold winter. It runs a multitude of School Holiday Programs, Guided & iPod Tours, Function Hire, Concerts, and Events throughout the year.
