The association’s Victorian Futurity will be held at the new Elmore Agribusiness Pavilion from August 20 to 26 this year.
Elmore Events Centre’s Sue Doyle said the competition would be the largest event to be hosted in the pavilion since it was built.
Ms Doyle said organisers would have up to 350 cubic metres of sand delivered and 1000 to 1200 head of cattle transported in and out over the course of the event.
The Victorian Futurity will come to Elmore in its 12th year, hosted for the first time outside Werribee south-west of Melbourne .
Ms Doyle said the association was drawn to the central Victorian town due to its central location and reputation for first-class events.
“Although we don’t have the same facilities as Werribee the organisers could see the benefit of having it here,” she said.
“A lot of people travel from Queensland and all over Australia towing very large trailers and rigs.
“What we are lacking in buildings we make up in other facilities and lots of space.”
According to the association, the cutting sport has become increasingly popular in Australia.
The Victorian Futurity is the second largest cutting event in the southern hemisphere and attracted up to 2500 people last year, with an estimated 50 per cent of competitors and support crew from interstate.
It was also announced earlier this year that the 2012 event would receive a $13,500 regional tourism boost from the state government.
Minister for Tourism and Major Events Louise Asher said the support would be used to promote the event nationally to generate more tourism in the Goldfields and Murray River regions.
