Loddon Mallee Kids is holding its first fundraising ball tomorrow night.Vice-president Angela Cail said they were hoping to raise $10,000.“We have a silent auction happening with a major prize of a week holiday in a beach house in Torquay,” she said.“There are also other prizes on offer as well, people can give donations also.”Loddon Mallee Kids is a not-for-profit organisation that helps support families and mothers with premature babies. “We go out to hospitals and give advice and support packs to mothers,” Ms Cail said. “All the raised money will go toward buying toys and help what we do with the Bendigo Health Hospital and St John of God Hospital a little easier.” It is Loddon Mallee Kids’ major fundraiser for the year, with bigger and better things planned for next year.“We are hoping this is the starting point for our fundraisers and we are hoping that people in the community get behind us,” Ms Cail said. Elizabeth Murphy is the manager of the Front Beach Torquay House and is giving away the major prize on offer. “I am a Bendigo girl and I had three premature babies,’’ she said. ‘‘There was nothing locally that would give me any support when I had my kids, so when I found out about Loddon Mallee Kids, I had to get involved. “The Front Beach Torquay House for a week is valued at $1700, so the major prize winner will be in for a treat.”
