THE second of Bendigo’s three new state-of-the-art trade training centres was officially opened yesterday. The centre will offer students from nine different schools the opportunity to study for certificates in agriculture, horticulture and laboratory skills, with the possibility of conservation and land management courses to be added in the future. The building encompasses a range of facilities from a science lab to a stable complete with lambs and alpacas. The centre, in Trotting Terrace Junortoun, will be managed by Catholic College Bendigo.Opening the centre, Bendigo MP Steve Gibbons said the project showed what could be achieved when the region’s schools and private sector worked in partnership.“This project is an example of how co-operative partnerships coupled with long-term vision can help promote quality education, help address national skills shortages and enhance the productivity of our region,” Mr Gibbons said.Yesterday’s launch comes after the opening of a trade centre for building, automotive and engineering in June.
