WHY waste a weekend, even if the weather is so wet it has caused flash flooding all over town? With a little ingenuity, Adam Malone and friends Stu Brown, Justin Castles and Matt Monaghan took the flooded Beischer Park at Strathdale and turned it into their own wake-boarding playground. No speedboat was required for their brand of aquatic fun. They brought a home-made jump with them and, using a petrol-powered winch that towed them across the surface, they spent the evening water-skiing in the thigh-deep water that swamped the oval after heavy rain on Friday night.“It’s just a winch system. They are getting around all over Australia now, and we are really into wake-boarding,” Mr Malone said.“It’s a good alternative to a boat. You just need a bit of two-stroke motor.“Adam’s got a dam that we do this on, and we brought a few rails and things. Put them in the water and off you go.”
