MEMBERS of the Central Victorian Chrysler Club are polishing their cars and making final preparations for the Midstate Mopars Car Show and Shine to be held during the Queen’s Birthday long weekend. Committee member Brendan Ruiter said the event would cater for families and car enthusiasts. The two-day event will begin on Saturday, June 12, with a motorkhana at the Bendigo Livestock Exchange. This will be held in conjunction with the Bendigo Car Club. Mr Ruiter said the motorkhana would involve entrants manoeuvering their Chryslers through an obstacle course as quickly as they could.Action begins at 10am and finishes at 3pm.Entry is by gold coin, with money raised going to the Goornong CFA. On Sunday a show and shine will be held at the Bendigo Town Hall precinct from 8am until 3pm. Mr Ruiter is hoping the show and shine will attract up to 300 Chryslers. This follows last year’s success, where 261 Chryslers entered, making it the second biggest Chrysler car show in Australia. He said Chryslers on display would include Jeeps, Dodges, Plymouths, and DeSotos. It will also show the first and last Australian Valiant ever made, along with former Australian prime minister Malcolm Fraser’s Australian-made extended limousine, and the Valiant “mule” ute, which was the ute from which the Valiant Charger was developed. The event will also include a Rotary craft market. For more information visit www.midstatemopars.com
