Central Goldfields Crime Investigation Unit have charged a 31-year-old Newbridge man with arson following a house fire in Newbridge on Sunday, November 1.
The fire caused extensive damage to a car and the house on Burke Street just before 4.30pm.
The 31-year-old Newbridge man was arrested at the scene.
He will appear at Bendigo Magistrates' Court today.

Police are investigating a fire that occurred at a property in Newbridge on Sunday afternoon.
A CFA spokesman said six crews from Golden Square, Newbridge, Woodstock West, Bridgewater and Inglewood were called to the scene at 4.32pm.
Crews were responding to reports of a car fire but the blaze had spread to the house on the property.
The fire was controlled by 5,30pm with crews remaining on scene until 9pm.
A Victoria Police spokesperson said Goldfields CIU was investigating with the arson squad expected to arrive at the scene on Monday morning.
Meanwhile, a fire in McIntyre - 30 minutes west of Newbridge - also destroyed a house.
CFA crews were called to the Burkes Flat-Mcintyre Road property about 5.30pm to find the house fully engulfed.
"We first received a call at 5.38pm of reports of a house fire," the CFA spokesperson said. "Black smoke was visible in the area and on arrival the house was fully engulfed."
The CFA spokesman said police were also notified and a fire investigator later arrived at the scene.
The fire was under control at 6.38pm thanks to six vehicles from Inglewood, Rheola and Dunolly brigades.

THE Country Fire Authority has been called to a reported house fire in Newbridge.
Crews were called to the blaze on Burke Street about 4.50pm on Sunday.
The fire is not under control.
